Our station radios act as part of the Madison County Emergency Communications Center (ECC). As part of our relationship with EMA, we help with communications using our station as needed. Another major use for these radios is for use during contests the club is participating in. As a result of our membership being heavily interested in contesting, we do partake in contesting a fair amount. We operate a mix of contests and location types (both from the ECC and in the field). Below is a list of what HF radios we have.
The radio we as a club use most for portable operations (POTA, outreach events, etc) is the Yaesu 991A.
For digital modes, we frequently use the Icom 7300.
This radio frequently gets used as a result of how simple it is to use.
